Shawn Mativetsky will perform a tabla recital, showcasing this pair of drums from the North of India, renowned for their expressive sonorities, rhythmic virtuosity, and rich traditions. The concert will feature the tabla as seen from various angles, including traditional tabla solos in the style of the Benares gharana, as well as new compositions for the instrument that explore the tabla in a new light.
