Of Sound, Mind and Body + Gabriel Dharmoo

This past January 25, I played a concert with improv ensemble Of Sound, Mind and Body at the Gesu in downtown Montreal, as part of the Le Vivier season. OSMB is Tim Brady on electric guitar, Helmut Lipsky on violin, with myself on tabla and percussion. For this occasion, we were joined by improvising vocalist extraordinaire, Gabriel Dharmoo.

OSMB is a free improvisation ensemble; the music is 100% improvised live, in the moment. It is spontaneous music creation that resonates with tradition but is driven by innovation and imagination.  It is neither new nor old, it is simply music, in real time. It's extremely enjoyable, extremely liberating to perform with no rehearsal, no idea of what will happen. While Tim, Helmut, and I have performed together before, this was the first time that all four of us got together in any context! The concert was a true roller coaster ride, exciting from start to finish. The concert was recorded, and we'll hopefully have some music to share with you soon!

Thanks to Caroline for the photos!
